WHY ATTEND HISTORIC GREEN? We can think of a few good reasons

Restore, Preserve, Sustain – it all sounds good, we know, but there’s something really special going on here. Get hands-on experience with sustainable design and preservation. Make a difference to families in need. And help us green an historic neighborhood on a scale never attempted before – the nation’s first carbon neutral community.

We can think of at least 10 good reasons to join us:

  1. It’s a resume builder: volunteerism attracts the right sort of employer/school/company.
  2. Gain valuable AIA Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
  3. Learn new skills – whether it’s eating crawfish boil for the first time, or how to mesh sustainability with historic construction/deconstruction/renovations).
  4. Make a real, tangible difference in the lives of people.
  5. Support an economy still devastated from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
  6. Meet people, make new friends.
  7. Hear some of the best music in the world!
  8. Eat some of the best food in the world!
  9. The experience will make for more than a few good stories.
  10. What else are you going to do with your spring break?

Y’all come on down! We look forward to working with you.
