TRANSPORTATION: how to get around

Once you arrive in New Orleans, we’ll help you get around. Historic Green is offering free shuttles to and from The Village (our event headquarters) in the Lower Ninth Ward. It’s free and convenient (you won’t get lost!) and carpooling is a more earth-friendly way to travel while you’re in town.

Historic Green shuttles...

Getting to and from the Lower 9 is easy. Historic Green shuttles are available to transport you and your friends to The Village in the morning – and back to wherever you’re staying at the end of the day:

8 a.m. to 10 a.m. every morning
4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every afternoon
Let us know your transportation needs when you register – or call Susannah Tuttle at (919) 612-5526.

Getting to and from the airport...

Using the Historic Green shuttle service to and from Louis Armstrong International Airport can be arranged. Call us first. If unavailable, there are alternate methods to get downtown:

  • Taxicabs: A cab ride costs $28 from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) for one or two persons and $12 (per passenger) for three or more passengers. Pick-up is on the airport’s lower level, outside the baggage claim area. There may be an additional charge for extra baggage. A $1 fuel surcharge is added to the total fare.
  • Airport Shuttle: Shuttle service is available from the airport to the hotels in the Central Business District for $15 (per person, one-way) or $30 (per person, round-trip). Three bags per person. Call 1-866-596-2699 or (504) 522-3500 for more details or to make a reservation. Advance reservations are required 48 hours prior to travel for all ADA accessible transfers. Please call well enough in advance for the specially-equipped shuttle to be reserved. For group reservations of 10 or more people, please dial 1-866-596-2699. Ticket booths are located on the lower level in the baggage claim area.
  • Mass Transit: To reach downtown, catch the E-2 Airport Bus (operated by Jefferson Transit) on the upper level of the airport. This bus will take you to Tulane and Loyola Avenues in downtown New Orleans, which is two blocks from Canal Street. The fare on this bus is $1.60 one-way. For more information on the E-2 Airport Bus, go to www.jeffersontransit.org. Refer to the Visitors Bureau Booth for more transit information and maps while at New Orleans International.

For assistance with travel while at Louis Armstrong International Airport, please visit the Visitor Information Services Booth located in the West Lobby (504) 464-2752. The Information Booth is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
