Victor became involved with Historic Green after attending Greenbuild in Chicago this past November and meeting members of the core team. He has sought a more active way to become involved with Katrina relief since first hearing personal accounts of post-Katrina New Orleans from his childhood friend John Moore, a fellow steering committee member, and his brother Robert. Victor currently works for an international merchant banking firm, which focuses on real estate private equity and development transactions, real estate securities and real estate securitization. Previously, he worked in structured finance for a wall street investment bank and studied Economics at Harvard College, with coursework in Real Estate Finance and Development at the Graduate School of Design. A proud native of Brooklyn, Victor is a member of the Urban Land Institute's Young Leadership Group, ICSC Next Gen and the USGBC Emerging Green Builders.
Brennan Crawford | Education KreweKansas City, Missouri: NPO Consultant
Brennan has been working with low income families in the Kansas City metro area for eight years, doing everything from fixing toilets, to helping adults on state assistance get jobs and go to college, to helping families secure affordable housing. Brennan studied Public Administration at the Cookingham Institute of Public Affairs, focusing on affordable housing in the context of sustainable urban development. After finishing his MPA in 2007, he worked as a performance auditor at the KC city government for a year before returning to the nonprofit sector as a program development consultant. He is currently working with several local nonprofits to develop a green collar employment network in the KC metro that will connect low-income families to living wage work in local growing sustainable enterprises.
Sheryl Davis | Education KreweAthens, Ohio: Interim Administrative Assistant, Ohio University
Sheryl is an aspiring preservationist of both the natural and built environments, advocating from this position the conservation of our cultural lineage, energy and natural resources. Her self-designed master's program at the San Francisco Institute of Architecture - Berkeley Institute of Ecological Design focuses on utilizing the collective intelligence of classical-traditional design in combination with new sustainable technologies to preserve, restore and adapt historic properties for the 21st century. Sheryl is also an intern at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, assisting in content development of Web pages on PreservationNation that pertain to the Trust's work on its Modernism + Recent Past Initiative. Currently, she works in Ohio University’s Department of English.
Valerie French | Volunteer CoordinatorColumbia, Missouri: Medical Student, University of Missouri
Valerie is a fourth year medical student at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. While not directly connecting to green building in her professional life, she has a strong personal interest in sustainability. So, when Jeremy Knoll asked her to help with Historic Green, she was happy to get involved!
Jennifer Gunby, PE, LEED® AP | Skilled Labor ProjectsLenexa, Kansas: Civil Engineer, GBA Architects & Engineers
Jennifer specializes in Site Development as a civil engineer in Kansas City. She has been involved with Historic Green since its inception and is active with the Emerging Green Builders and USGBC chapters in Kansas City, as well as Engineers Without Borders. Jennifer has degrees in Civil Engineering and Business Administration from the University of Kansas and regularly gives presentations around the city on sustainable stormwater management. She is especially interested in sustainability on the ground level, planning, green infrastructure, sustainable stormwater management, native planting, and urban gardens, etc.
Amy King | Finance & Fundraising Krewe and USGBC PartnerWashington, D.C.: Director, Chapter Services, U.S. Green Building Council
Amy currently oversees the national staff support for a network of 79 chapter organizations of USGBC. She specializes in grassroots marketing/outreach and organizational and event management. Amy also oversees USGBC’s work in New Orleans and is committed to issues of social equity in the green building industry and social justice in underprivileged communities. She worked for over 15 years in the film and television industry as a commercial, documentary and music video producer and is the former Associate Director of Silverdocs – the American Film Institute and Discovery Channel’s world-renowned documentary film festival and conference. Amy also serves on the Advisory Board of the DC Environmental Film Festival and the Board of Directors of Impact Film Fund and wears multiple hats for Historic Green, including partner, fundraiser and fan club member.
Michele Markovitz | Group Volunteer CoordinatorMiami, FL: Civil/Environmental Student, Florida International University
Michele is a civil engineering student focusing on sustainability and alternative energy at Florida International. She is the recipient of the Mercedes Carrero Memorial Scholarship and has been inducted into Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. She is founder and president of Emerging Green Builders on campus and leads the efforts for students to build a permanent solar house at the Engineering Center to use as a learning lab and demonstration center. Anisa Baldwin Metzger, LEED® AP | Projects Krewe and USGBC PartnerNew Orleans, Louisiana: New Orleans Green Building Coordinator, U.S. Green Building Council
Anisa is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas and misses its hills. She holds a BS in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Washington in Seattle. With some very dedicated Seattle architects, she took part in starting the city’s Architecture for Humanity chapter. She is also an aspiring ballerina, photographer, and literary genius. Aspiring.
Nicolette Mueller | Finance & Fundraising KreweSyracuse, New York: MPA/MA-IR Candidate 2009, Syracuse University
Nicolette joined the Historic Green Krewe as a volunteer in 2008. She currently serves as a member of the Finance & Fundraising Krewe, focused on developing systems and resources to help Historic Green grow and thrive. She also acts as a liaison between Historic Green and the U.S. Green Building Council and E.P.A. Region 2 Environmental Finance Center. In addition to her Historic Green involvement, Nicolette is investigating how volunteer networks engage with community organizations. Nicolette is currently pursuing a master's in public administration and international relations at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs.
Sara Nordstrom | Education KreweNewark, New Jersey: Graduate Student, NJIT
Sara is in her last semester as a graduate student of architecture at the New Jersey School of Architecture + Design at NJIT. She was a volunteer with Historic Green in its inaugural year last March and is eager to be a part of this year's organizing efforts as a member of the Education Krewe. Sara is most interested in sustainable architecture, particularly emergency housing and the sustainable rebuilding of regions that have been devastated by natural or man-made disasters worldwide.
